New Works for the Future

Paper Mill Playhouse is committed to developing and producing New Works, such as recent favorites: Comfortable Shoes, Romeo & Bernadette, and Jane Eyre as well as Harold & Maude: The Musical featuring Academy Award winner, Estelle Parsons.

Paper Mill's proximity to Manhattan offers unique access to a pool of talented actors, directors, writers, designers, choreographers, dancers, and musicians. It is becoming well-known as a place where emerging artists find opportunities to hone their craft alongside industry veterans and are given the resources to work at a level and scope that is rare in the not-for-profit theatre industry.

The development of New Works offers unprecedented opportunities for New Jersey audiences to experience and to access some of the most ambitious and innovative work in the country. In addition, Paper Mill is creating work that will refresh the musical theatre canon and is nurturing the next generation of artists, talent and material.

Paper Mill's New Works Development Fund provides financial resources to develop, test, nurture and, when appropriate, produce new material; to forge unique alliances; and to encourage talent for the future.
