PAPER MILL: Support Our Theatre: Education and Community Support

EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT

SUPPORT OUR THEATRE

Your generous support helps advance Paper Mill's commitment to identify and nurture new talent and to share the Theatre's resources with the community through its award-winning education and access programs. Gifts from generous individuals, corporations, foundations and government provide the resources to support Paper Mill's belief that a well-rounded education is a lifelong endeavor, and that theater is a powerful tool for discovery and learning that should be available to every individual, regardless of economic constraints or disability.

Paper Mill's programs have been recognized as role models by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the New Jersey Alliance for Arts Education, and the Kennedy Center for Arts Education. Highlights include:

  • Adopt-A-School Project – an arts-in-education program for students in urban high schools and schools without an adequate theatre arts program.
  • TheatreStart – a performance workshop for elementary and middle school children.
  • S.T.A.R (Student Training and Artistic Recognition), which includes the Rising Star Awards, recognizing the best in New Jersey's high school musicals, and a summer Musical Theatre Conservatory.

Paper Mill is proud to be one of the few theatres in the country to be fully accessible to individuals with disabilities and has been honored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Organization on Disability. Programs that serve over 3,500 people annually include:

  • Sign-interpreted and open-captioned performances for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Pre-performance sensory seminars, large-print and Braille programs, and audio description for those who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Accessibility for those who use wheelchairs or are otherwise physically challenged.
