(Millburn, NJ) – Arts lovers throughout the garden state are invited to go online to vote for their favorite New Jersey arts organizations in a wide variety of categories that range from favorite theater to see a play or musical, to favorite performing arts center, to museum and gallery, to symphony and dance company, and many more for the 2011 Jersey Arts People’s Choice Awards. Voting is open now through midnight, January 18th, 2012.  This year, Paper Mill Playhouse is nominated in two categories, Favorite Place to See a Musical and Favorite Place to Take a Class (Kids). Vote for Paper Mill Playhouse at http://JerseyArts.com/PeoplesChoice in both categories.  Last year, over 6000 people cast their ballot, resulting in the 2010 win for Paper Mill Playhouse as Favorite Professional Theater and Favorite Summer Arts Program.

This year's awards feature 59 nominated organizations across fourteen different categories. "It's a great opportunity for arts organizations around the state to connect with and rally their audiences in support of the arts they love," said Jim Atkinson, Discover Jersey Arts' Program Director. "The arts in New Jersey are vital, vibrant, and diverse, and our nominees really showcase that." Organizations were nominated for the awards by their peers through the Jersey Arts Marketers (JAM) network, made up of hundreds of nonprofit cultural groups statewide. Five lucky voters will be selected at random to receive the item of their choice from the JerseyArts.com Online Store -- your one-stop shop for your inner arts geek. Winners will be announced on JerseyArts.com in early February. For complete details visit JerseyArts.com/peopleschoice.

“We are committed to providing outstanding opportunities for talented people of all ages that are educational and enriching,” said Mark S. Hoebee, Producing Artistic Director of Paper Mill Playhouse. “Programs like our Youth Theatre, Adult classes and our Summer Conservatory give students a supportive environment in which to learn and explore elements of performance. We are honored to have been nominated for these awards directly from the community that we serve.”
