CLASS LIST


ACTING & IMPROV

(ages 12 to 15)

This class is a complete theatre experience for teens that includes warm-up theatre games, improvisation, and acting exercises. With an emphasis on building collaborative and communication skills, the class culminates in an open house performance with work created by the students.

18 weeks - $575

CHILDREN’S THEATRE ON TOUR

(ages 13-17)

The Children’s Theatre On Tour Company rehearses a full one-hour musical that tours to schools, libraries, community centers, and other local organizations. The class is filled by audition only. Completion of Creative Drama I or II or a Paper Mill teen class is a prerequisite to audition. Auditions are held in the Spring.

MUSICAL THEATRE SHOWCASE - NEW!

(ages 12-16)

For the experienced musical theatre performer, this class will further enhance the student’s skill in all aspects of Musical Theatre Performance, including song selection, song interpretation and stage presence. Students must have completed one of the following classes at Paper Mill to enroll: Creative Drama 1 or 2, Musical Theatre Workshop or Teen Musical Theatre. The class will culminate in a showcase performance in our Black Box Theatre.

20 weeks - $695

MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP

(ages 12-15)

Musical theatre performance is more than a pretty voice; it’s acting through a song. Students explore how to interpret and connect to the lyrics to tell the story in the song. Selection of appropriate material for auditions and performance will be stressed, along with basic vocal technique and breath control. Staged musical numbers will also be introduced.

18 weeks - $595 (includes accompanist fee)

PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS

(ages 12 to 17)

Individual attention helps students learn breath control and vocal placement in a nurturing one-to-one environment. Exercises are used to strengthen and protect the voice and both popular and theatre songs are rehearsed. Lessons are 30 minutes each.

TEEN PRODUCTION

(ages 12-15)

In this class the company will work on a scripted dramatic piece to explore advanced elements of performance such as establishing an emotional connection to a character, vocal variety and physicality. A performance will be presented at the end of the class demonstrating the skills and material learned.

THEATRE FOR EVERYONE AutismRibbonwhlchr p

(ages 7-18)

In collaboration with Theatre in Motion, an organization which provides a wide array of arts programming for children & adults with all types of disabilities, this class includes theatre improvisation, storytelling, music, movement, and some visual art. The series creatively addresses and includes diverse learning styles and modes of communication. When applicable, a student's attendant, who may be a parent, caregiver, nurse, personal aide, or sign interpreter, stays for the class. Typical siblings are welcome to join the class as well.
