CLASS FOR AGES 13 to 17 (as listed)

OUR 2011-2012 THEATRE SCHOOL FULL-SESSION IS NOW OPEN FOR ENROLLMENT!

Registration deadline has been extended with limited class availability.

In most cases, FULL-SESSION classes run from September through March, beginning after Labor Day and culminating in a performance or an informal "sharing" for family and friends on the last day of the session.  Each season our Full-Session SELLS OUT, so don’t delay in selecting your class! We have class for ages 4 and up, as well as offerings for adults.  Select an age group from the Education menu surprise yourself with what you can do!

It is simple to enroll with our easy REGISTRATION FORM! You may fill out the form right on your computer using Adobe Acrobat and email it back to us as an attachment with a credit card payment, or if you prefer to pay by check, you may print out the Fill-In Form or Manual-Form and mail back or drop off your registration at Paper Mill Playhouse.

CLASS LIST

ACTING & IMPROV

(ages 13 to 17)

A complete theatre experience for teens, including theatre games, improvisation, acting, and creative drama activities. With an emphasis on building collaborative and communication skills, the class culminates in an open workshop performance with work created by the students.

18 weeks - $515

Wednesdays 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm


BROADWAY TAP & JAZZ

(ages 13 to 17)

 This class teaches the language of dance through Broadway show choreography and develops the student’s strength, flexibility, coordination and rhythm.

18 weeks - $515

Fridays 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm


ACTING FOR THE CAMERA

(ages 13 to 17)

An introduction to acting for television and film, this class guides students through the commercial audition process. Videotaping allows for instructor feedback and provides the opportunity for students to view their own progress.

Mondays 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm


ON CAMERA AUDITIONING

(ages 13 to 17)

A great way to prepare for college auditions! Basic “do’s” and “don’ts” will be covered in this class designed specifically to put young actors at ease in the audition setting. Students will be coached on selecting and rehearsing monologues and songs for their auditions. Tips will also be shared for handling and surviving nervousness. Video recordings for feedback will be shared with the students.

8 weeks - $250

Fridays 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm


MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP

(ages 13 to 17)

Musical theatre performance is more than a pretty voice; it’s acting through a song. Students explore how to interpret and connect to the lyrics to tell the story in the song.  Selection of appropriate material for auditions and performance will be stressed, along with basic vocal technique and breath control. Staged musical numbers will also be introduced.

18 weeks - $555 (includes accompanist fee)

Tuesdays 5:00pm - 6:00pm


PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS

(ages 13 to 17)

Individual attention helps students learn breath control and vocal placement in a nurturing one-to-one environment. Exercises are used to strengthen and protect the voice, and both popular and theatre songs are rehearsed. Lessons are for one half-hour and are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.

20 weeks - $875 (includes accompanist fee)

Thursdays 4:00 pm - 9:00pm


TEEN PRODUCTION

(ages 13 to 17)

In this class the company will work on a scripted dramatic piece to explore advanced elements of performance such as establishing an emotional connection to a character, vocal variety and physicality. A performance will be Presented at the end of the class demonstrating the skills and material learned.

20 weeks - $620

Tuesdays 7:30pm - 9:00pm


CHILDREN'S THEATRE ON TOUR - CLASS FILLED

(ages 13 to 17)

A touring performance class designed for teens,students will work on a scripted musical for young audiences that will be presented at community centers, hospitals, and schools. The class is filled by audition only. Completion of Junior Creative Drama I or a Paper Mill teen class is a prerequisite to audition.

16 weeks  - $640

Mondays 3:45pm - 5:15pm
Mondays 5:50pm -  - 7:00pm


COLLEGE MONOLOGUE AUDITION PREP

(For HS Seniors auditioning for undergraduate theatre programs)

This ten week course taught by John Housley,a faculty member of our Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory, is a class that will prepare monologues for High School Seniors planning to audition for college theatre programs.

10 weeks - $400
