ACTING & IMPROV

(ages 12 to 15)

This class is a complete theatre experience for teens that includes warm-up theatre games, improvisation, and acting exercises. With an emphasis on building collaborative and communication skills, the class culminates in an open house performance with work created by the students.

ACTING FOR THE CAMERA

(ages 12 to 15)

An introduction to acting for television and film, this class leads students through the commercial audition process. Video recording allows for instructor feedback as well as the opportunity for students to view their own progress.

BROADWAY DANCE STYLES

(ages 10 to 13)

This class teaches the language of dance through Broadway show choreography and develops the student's strength, flexibility, coordination and rhythm.

CHILDREN’S THEATRE ON TOUR

(ages 13 to 17)

A touring performance class designed for teens, students will work on a scripted musical for young audiences that will be presented at community centers, hospitals, and schools. The class is filled by audition only. Completion of Junior Creative Drama I, II or a Paper Mill teen class is a prerequisite to audition. SOLD OUT

INTERGENERATIONAL THEATRE WORKSHOP

(all ages 10 and up)

The Intergenerational Theatre Workshop will pair together young teens, adults and seniors in scenes from renowned theater pieces for eight weeks, leading up to an evening of Showcases.

18 weeks - $550

MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP

(ages 12-15)

Musical theatre performance is more than a pretty voice; it’s acting through a song. Students explore how to interpret and connect to the lyrics to tell the story in the song. Selection of appropriate material for auditions and performance will be stressed, along with basic vocal technique and breath control. Students will enhance their stage presence and increase their comfort level when singing in front of an audience. Staged musical numbers will also be introduced.

PAPER MILL INTERGENERATIONAL COMMUNITY SINGERS

(ages 16 and up)

Members of this teen and adult company will participate in ensemble singing as they explore the unparalleled world of American popular music. Holiday, contemporary songs, standards and Broadway tunes will be part of the repertoire. Semester will end with a showcase performance.

10 weeks - $100

PRIVATE ACTING COACHING

(ages 12 and up)

Individual coaching sessions for the actor wanting to enrich his or her personal process for plays, performances, auditions and other artistic goals. Lessons are 30 minutes each.

4 weeks - $200

PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS

(ages 12 to 15)

Individual attention helps students learn breath control and vocal placement in a nurturing one-to-one environment. Exercises are used to strengthen and protect the voice and both popular and theatre songs are rehearsed. Lessons are 30 minutes each.

SCENES & SONGS

(ages 11 to 14)

Students will work with scenes and songs from contemporary and classic Musical Theatre pieces. Development of characters is stressed as well as “acting through a song” to tell the story.

18 weeks - $585

TEEN PRODUCTION

(ages 12 to 15)

In this class the company will work on a scripted dramatic piece to explore advanced elements of performance such as establishing an emotional connection to a character, vocal variety and physicality. A performance will be presented at the end of the class demonstrating the skills and material learned.

THEATRE FOR EVERYONE AutismRibbonwhlchr p

(ages 8 to 13)

In collaboration with VSA-NJ, an organization which provides a wide array of arts programming for children & adults with all types of disabilities, this class will include theatre improvisation, storytelling, music, movement, and some visual art. The series will creatively address and include diverse learning styles and modes of communication. When applicable, a student's attendant, who may be a parent, caregiver, nurse, personal aide, or sign interpreter, is welcome to stay for the class. The course will end with a fun sharing for family and friends.
