ACTING & IMPROV

(ages 9-11)

A fun-filled introduction to theatre for the novice actor! Theatre games and improvisation exercises increase performance skills, awaken creativity, and encourage students to work with others to accomplish common goals

6 weeks - $200

AUDITION TECHNIQUES

(ages 9-11)

Find out what it takes to land that dream role. Topics covered include resume prep, choosing the right headshot, wardrobe etiquette, cold readings or musical selection, and dealing with audition nerves.

INTRO TO ACTING

(ages 6-7)

Students use role-playing and basic creative drama exercises to bring scenes and stories to life. A great opportunity to make new friends while developing self-confidence.

INTRO TO ACTING 2

(age 8)

Students use role-playing and basic creative drama exercises to bring scenes and stories to life. Children should have reading skills.

MINI-SESSION SAMPLER

(ages 9-11)

Acting! Singing! Dancing! It takes all three to become a “Triple Threat” in show business today. Students work on vocal performance, acting techniques and movement while working toward a mini-showcase at the end of the session.

6 weeks - $215

MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP

(ages 6-11)

Musical theatre performance is more than a pretty voice; it’s acting through a song. Students explore how to interpret and connect to the lyrics to tell the story in the song. Selection of appropriate material for auditions and performance will be stressed, along with basic vocal technique and breath control. Staged musical numbers will also be introduced.

6 weeks - $210 (includes accompanist fee)

PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS

(ages 8-11)

Individual attention helps students learn breath control and vocal placement in a nurturing one-to-one environment. Exercises are used to strengthen and protect the voice and both popular and theatre songs are rehearsed. Lessons are 30 minutes each.

SCENES AND SONGS

(ages 9-11)

Students will work with scenes and songs from contemporary and classic Musical Theatre pieces. Development of characters is stressed, as well as “acting through a song” to tell the story

6 weeks - $210

SKETCH COMEDY

(ages 11-14)

Students study various styles of comedy. After a quick introduction to joke formulas, students are shown how to write using their own experiences and observations as inspiration. Performance technique is then incorporated. Rehearsals follow culminating in a mini showcase of student performance.

STORYBOOK THEATRE

(age 5)

A wonderful introduction to the world of theatre for the imaginative child, the class brings favorite fairly tales and characters to life through music, movement, and pretend play.

6 weeks - $175

THEATRE FOR EVERYONE AutismRibbonwhlchr p

(ages 7-18)

In collaboration with VSA-NJ, an organization which provides a wide array of arts programming for children & adults with all types of disabilities, this class will include theatre improvisation, storytelling, music, movement, and some visual art. The series will creatively address and include diverse learning styles and modes of communication. When applicable, a student's attendant, who may be a parent, caregiver, nurse, personal aide, or sign interpreter, is welcome to stay for the class. The course will end with a fun sharing for family and friends. Typical siblings are welcome at no extra cost.
