DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

Paper Mill Playhouse, one of the country's premier not-for-profit theaters, producing musicals and plays in Millburn, New Jersey seeks a Development Associate, an excellent entry level opportunity in our fundraising department. The Development Associate is a key position, responsible for processing and acknowledging all donor gifts using fundraising database software; managing ongoing stewardship projects for individual and institutional donors; assisting with departmental budget and project tracking; and providing administrative support for Development department.

Qualifications:
Ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with strong verbal and writing skills. Bachelors degree, plus one to two years related experience. Must be proficient in word processing and spreadsheets (Microsoft Office; database software experience, a plus.)

Director of Development

Paper Mill Playhouse, one of the country's leading regional theatres producing musicals and plays in Millburn, NJ, seeks an experienced, highly motivated and creative Director of Development. Responsibilities include providing strategic leadership in raising contributed revenue through foundation support, corporate sponsorship, individual giving, government grants, and special events. The Director of Development is also responsible for managing annual budgets for the Development Department, developing board capacity to raise funds and identifying and developing relations with prospective individual, foundation and corporate donors. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and generate creative ideas. Excellent organizational and staff management skills are required.
The Director of Development reports directly to the Executive Director, oversees a staff of six, works in collaboration with the senior management team and the Board of Trustees. A minimum of ten years fundraising experience is required as well as a successful track record in major individual and corporate giving. Production Stage Manager

Paper Mill Playhouse is accepting Production Stage Manager resumes for its 09 - 10 season. Subscription Manager

The Subscriptions Manager works directly with the Ticketing Services Manager and Marketing Deparment to create and implement a season sales strategy to expand the current Subscriber base. Serious candidates should have a thorough understanding of Industry trends in Subscriptions and ticket packaging and will be responsible for providing detailed analysis of both current and projected Subscriber numbers along with recommended tradional and themed package options. Subscription Manager candidates should have 3-5 years experience building seasons, preferably using Paciolan or Ticketmaster software, and be able to make informed recommendations on pricing and seating arrangements. The Subscription Manager will be responsible for creating an in depth plan and timeline for the department to include all aspects of the renewal and new acquisition process designed to maximize potiental revenue. The Subscription Manager position is a full-time year round position with a comprehensive benefit package.

VOLUNTEERING

We are currently seeking volunteers interested in being trained to assist in our "Sensory Seminars" for the visually impaired, an integral part of our award-winning audio description program. Our development department and subscriptions department are also seeking volunteers to assist with the annual fund and subscription campaigns.

Please note that Paper Mill does not use volunteers in its production departments (i.e. stage management, the scene shop, the costume shop, the stage crew).

Paper Mill Playhouse Seeking Volunteer Ushers

(Millburn, NJ) Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Artistic Director, Mark W. Jones-Executive Director) is seeking volunteer ushers for the remainder of the 2009/2010 Season. Paper Mill Playhouse is looking for people with a pleasant public demeanor who enjoy helping and assisting patrons during their time at the theater. Volunteering at Paper Mill Playhouse is a great opportunity to support your local theater, see world class performances and enhance the experience of patrons at Paper Mill Playhouse.

All volunteers must be sixteen years of age or older; ability to walk up steps and stand for at least an hour; read small print on tickets; quickly locate patron seats in the theater; and easily take direction from the House Management Team.

Volunteer Usher duties include: greet and help seat patrons; hand out programs, direct customers to front of house facilities such as concessions, box office, art gallery, and the infrared headset rental; stuff insets in programs; and assist House Ushers.

Volunteer Ushers will meet at least twice annually for orientation and job training on a designated Saturday afternoon. The first meeting will take place on Saturday, January 16th from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Paper Mill Playhouse.

INTERNSHIPS

Administrative interns only. No summer internships are available.

For high school students: Paper Mill's Theatre School Internships are open to high school students who assist with Theatre School classes for two hours per week. A number of special benefits including complimentary tickets and shadowing opportunities are available to Theatre School Interns. Theatre School internships run from September through April and applications are usually available the preceding June.

For college students and college graduates: Paper Mill offers non-paying internships in all areas of administration including education programming, marketing, fundraising and finance, casting and non-union production management. Internships are available only during the presenting season from September through June. Paper Mill Playhouse does not provide housing for interns and internships are not available during the summer months.

CASTING

Paper Mill operates under a C.O.S.T. (Council Of Stock Theatres) Contract with Actor's Equity Association (A.E.A.). Periodically, non-equity performers (EMC's or Equity Membership Candidates) are also hired for certain shows, including local performers (Local Jobbers).

Casting is done on a show-by-show basis. Required Equity Principal Auditions (E.P.A.'s) are held for all musicals and plays. Required A.E.A. chorus calls as well as non-equity chorus calls are held for each musical containing a chorus. Agent submissions are also used for principal roles. All auditions and rehearsals are held in New York City.

SEEKING excellent actor / singer / dancers for the following roles:

WENDY DARLING (must be over 16 and play 14) the oldest of the Darling children. A young girl on the brink of womanhood who befriends Peter Pan and becomes surrogate mother to him and the Lost Boys.

JOHN DARLING (must be over 16 and play 12) the middle Darling Child who thinks he wants to be a pirate.

MICHAEL DARLING (8 - 10). The youngest and most impressionalbe of the Darling children who thinks he would like to be an Indian.

LOST BOYS are a gang of boys who fell out of their baby carriages and were not claimed by their parents, so they were sent to Neverland... male and females will be considered. Must be under 5'5" and be older than 16 and play younger. Should sing and dance well.

Must be available for the production, rehearsals begin May 10, 2010 and the show runs June 2 - June 27, 2010.

Please be prepared to sing 16 bars of traditional musical theater song. Bring sheet music as an accompanist will be provided. Or we will have the sheet music for the following songs available: "Tender Shepard" and "I Won't Grow Up" from Peter Pan. If you are primarily a dancer and you are over the age of 16, we will be having an open dance call on Wednesday, February 24th in NYC.
