Mark2015MARK S. HOEBEE (Producing Artistic Director) joined the Paper Mill Playhouse staff in 2000. Under his artistic leadership, and working with a broad array of partners, Paper Mill has become a noteworthy incubator for new musical theater. In recent years, successful partnerships with Disney Theatrical Group, Cameron Mackintosh, Kevin McCollum, The Dodgers and others have enabled Paper Mill to produce the American Premieres of the 25th Anniversary production of Les Misérables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame as well as the world premiere productions of Newsies, Honeymoon In Vegas, Ever After, The Bandstand, and A Bronx Tale: The Musical. On Broadway, Mark directed the Actors Fund Benefit concert of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, which starred Emily Skinner, Terrence Mann, and Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson. He has directed National Tours of Victor/Victoria starrring Grammy winner Toni Tennille, Dreamgirls starring Frenchie Davis, Company, and Almost Like Being in Love: An Evening of Lerner and Lowe starring Diahann Carroll. This season Mark will direct the theater's much anticipated production of West Side Story. Among his other directing credits at Paper Mill are Dreamgirls, Hello Dolly! starring Tovah Feldshuh, Harold and Maude: The Musical with Estelle Parsons, The Will Rogers Follies starring John Davidson, The King & I, Miss Saigon, Grease, Disney's High School Musical, Peter Pan, Smokey Joe's Café, Curtains, Damn Yankees, and The Full Monty starring Broadway legend Elaine Stritch. Mark has performed in more than ten Broadway and National tour productions and has served as an Adjunct Professor in the Dance and Theatre Department at his alma mater Northwestern University. He currently serves on the NAMT Board and resides in Glen Ridge, NJ with his partner Larry Elardo, who is the Broadcast Manager for the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley, and their children Stephen and Ashley.


  Todd2015TODD SCHMIDT (Managing Director) has produced Paper Mill Playhouse's last five seasons, including the world premieres of Newsies, Honeymoon in Vegas, and Ever After and the US premieres of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Under his leadership, Paper Mill has regained its status as America's premier musical theater and one of New Jersey's most celebrated cultural institutions. Todd previously was managing director for George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, and prior to that he was executive producer of Peninsula Players Theatre in Wisconsin, where he produced 70 plays and led the theater through a remarkable period of growth, culminating in the opening of the state-of-the-art performance space. In Chicago, Todd worked with Chicago Shakespeare, Goodman, and Apple Tree Theatre, and he directed and produced The Woman in Black (Jefferson Award nomination for best production). He currently serves on the board of ArtPride New Jersey and is chairman of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance, and he was named one of the 101 Most Influential People in New Jersey by New Jersey Monthly magazine. Todd holds an MFA degree from DePaul Universaity and BA from Auburn University.
